Obelisk - solid stone - grey
An obelisk is a memorial pole.
It is a square column or pillar, thinning slightly towards the top, with a pyramid-shaped blunt tip.
Ancient columns are often monoliths, but modern obelisks are usually made of more stones and may also contain spaces on the inside.
The largest obelisk of antiquity was erected under Pharaoh Tuthmosis IV around 1400 B.C. The 32 metre high and 455 tonne monolith now stands at St John of the Lateran in Rome.
