When you put the latch on the mandrel and push it through the door (through-hole lock), you can fix the door handle on the outside on the mandrel so it can rotate, set screw (installation key is included).

Maintenance:
The cast-iron surfaces of these fittings (long plates) were coated with a moisture-repellent protective layer. If nothing is done, they will start to rust after a while.
The handles and door plates of this set should therefore be regularly treated with polishing wax. This forms a film and prevents the natural oxidation of the antique iron and the condition remains permanently good, and it looks much better too!
